About

The Basics About My Practice

I've worked as a NC licensed clinical mental health counselor for 15 years and a NC licensed clinical mental health counselor supervisor for 8 years. My work experience settings include private practice, community mental health agency, in home services, justice department services, and school services. My work experience provisions include outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, intensive in home services, crisis intervention services, community support and coordination with stakeholders. My past work experience areas include mental health, severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI), abuse/neglect, trauma, generational/societal/systemic trauma, suicidal ideation, personality disorders, family therapy, play therapy, substance use, and dual diagnosis. I have extensive training in trauma work for children, adolescents, and adults. In 2014 I completed a 50 hour training program for Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through the NC Child Treatment Program in collaboration with Duke University and also in 2014 I completed 24 hours of trauma training through the Medical University of South Carolina. In 2023 I completed a 50 hour trauma training program for EMDR through EMDR Consulting. In 2023 I completed a 200 hour specialized program for accessing the body, movement, and breath to decrease depression and anxiety, increase distress tolerance, and increase nervous system regulation. I also have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, 7 Challenges youth substance use program, person centered therapy. I offer in person sessions at the office and telehealth sessions are available as needed. I’m a member of the American Counseling Association and the Licensed Clinical Counselors of North Carolina association.
